Yesterday I was invited to the kitchen of a babbling inventor who escaped from a black hole in space. I walked up to the door and pressed to oversized doorbell. The inventor opened the door and said "Come in!" He had a large blue cyborg eyepiece over his left eye. I stepped in and looked around. There were all sorts of high-tech equipment lying around.
He brought me to his kitchen and told me to sit down. I sat down on a floating chair with buttons all over it. I pressed the up arrow and I started floating higher. I pressed the down arrow and started to lower. "Have some chips!" said the mad scientist. He handed me a metal box with flashing buttons all over it. I pressed the button that said chips. A speech bubble came out and floated above the top of the box. It read "What type of chips would you like?" "Big, Mexican ones." I said. Instantly a bowl of big, Mexican chips appeared with a little bowl of guacamole sitting next to them. I tried the chip and dip. They were the best chips I ever had. They tasted like the chips of my dreams. I gobbled them all down quickly and asked for some more. He gave me them then put the machine away.
"I need to use the bathroom." I said. He pressed a button on the wall and a row of orange flashing lights appeared on the wall. "Follow the lights and you will reach the bathroom." he said. I followed the lights down the long hallways until I came to where they stopped. Then the door next to me opened and I saw a sign that said bathroom. I walked into the room and sat on the toilet. Zoom! Something whizzed by my face. That's weird I thought. I'm sure there used to be mirror sitting on the wall. Again something whizzed by my face. "I'll catch it next time it does that." I said to myself. Zoom! I caught it. I looked in my hands and saw the bathroom mirror with a pair of wings squirming in my grip. "AHHHH!" I shouted and dropped the mirror. I ran out of the bathroom and when I looked back the mirror was perched on the wall directly above the sink just like when I first saw it.
I followed the orange lights back to where the inventor was flying in the kitchen. "How are you doing that?" I said. "I'm using magnets" He said.
He tossed me a box with straps. "Tie this to your stomach and press the blue button." He said. I tied it around my stomach and pressed the blue button. Nothing happened. "It doesn't work." I said. "Press the blue button." said the inventor. I pressed it again and it didn't work. "The one floating above your head." he said. I looked up and sure enough there was a big blue button floating above my head.
I pressed it and started floating up until I hit the ceiling. "How do I get down?" I asked. "Press the blue button." said the inventor. "But it's all the way over there." I said pointing to the corner where the blue button sat staring at me on his green and purple chair. Wait for him to come back." the inventor said like it was the most obvious thing in the world. Over 20 minutes later the blue button floated near and I pressed him on the head. "Finally!" I said.
After both of us were back safe on the floor the inventor asked me if I liked giraffe weevils. "What are those?" I said. "They are bugs with long necks" he replied. Suddenly he gazed past me and said "The cloning machine is malfunctioning." I turned around and saw a huge bug. "What is that?" I asked trying to remain calm. "That is a genetically modified giraffe weevil." It charged at us and the inventor pressed the blue button again. Sadly I had already of my magnet pack so I couldn't float above the giraffe weevil like the inventor did. The weevil charged again destroying the nearest lamp. I ran into the room where the weevil came from. Inside there were hundreds of normal sized giraffe weevils milling around. I looked at the counter and saw broken glass. Next to the shattered glass was a row of test tubes with purple liquid inside. A normal giraffe weevil bumped into on of the test tubes knocking it over. The purple liquid spilled out and surrounded the little giraffe weevil. It started to grow until it was the size of a small couch. It looked around, saw me, and charged. I dodged the weevil and pelted out of the room. I ran into the kitchen and closed the door before any o the other weevils could get me. The door started shaking as the giraffe weevils pounded on the other side. I ran over to my magnet floating pack and strapped it on just as the giraffe weevils broke through the door. I pressed the blue button and started floating above the scene. "What do we do?" I asked the inventor. "Follow me!" he replied. He started doing freestyle in midair and it made him move forward. I followed him out of the kitchen and into the basement. He closed the door behind him and led me towards a large iron cabinet. He typed in a code and the doors swung open. Behind them was an extensive range of weapons. He grabbed a little pistol and tossed it to me. Then he took out a large rifle like gun with a tank of bright blue liquid attached to the underside. The giraffe weevils busted through the door and charged. I aimed my pistol and fired. A brilliant orange ray of pure energy shot out and disintegrated the nearest giraffe weevil. "It's a ray gun!" I said. The inventor shot his weapon at the next weevil to enter. The weevil was frozen in a solid block of ice. "A freeze ray!" I exclaimed.
By the time we got back out of the basement all of the giraffe weevils had grown huge. We blasted through row after row of giraffe weevils freezing and disintegrating right and left. Soon there were no giraffe weevils to kill. The inventor put our weapons back in the cabinet in the basement then came back up stairs. "I think I'm gonna faint." I said. Then everything went black.
The next morning I woke up in my own bed and not in the inventors house. Next to me lying on the bed stand was a holo-projector that the mad scientist gave me as a parting gift. I pressed the button on the side and a moving 3D image of the inventor came up. "Hi there!" it said. "Um, hi." I said back. "Just wanted to make sure your fine, bye!" it said. I went back to sleep and hoped the inventor invited me back.

I said to myself.
I charged into the room where the weevil came from. Inside there were hundreds of normal sized giraffe weevils milling around. I looked at the counter and saw broken glass. Next to the shattered glass was a row of test tubes with purple liquid inside.

Love is Patient, Love is Kind
Dad,
You are patient
You are kind
You are patient
With trials of crooks
When they bring worries to you
When they argue, fight
You put them in the slammer
Now all will be well
You are kind
When I am mad
You are nice and calm me down
When we yell at you
You forgive us and love us
Never being mean
Love is patient
Love is kind
You are Love, Dad
You are Love
You are Patient, You are Kind
Mom,
You are patient
You are kind
You are patient
With Zane and with I
When we bring worries to you
When we argue, fight
You listen to our troubles
Now all will be well
You are kind
When people are mean
Your peaceful heart loves them back
When ignorance comes
Deep breaths you offer and smile
Refusing to judge
Love is patient
Love is kind
You are Love, Mom
You are Love

Mad Scientist
Kodu
One evening I was working on making games in Kodu. Kodu is a program that is used to make games and is much simpler than real coding like JavaScript of HTML. I was working on a project where there were giant creatures called sputnicks would fly around destroying everything. There would be defenses on the ground that would try to stop them. I was a jet and I created a special runway to boost me way above all the fighting. From my vantage point over the battle, I would shoot missles and blips which are little dots of light that shoot out like a machine gun. The giant sputnick was attacking the second most powerful creature, a stick. The stick put up a good fight but eventually the giant sputnick destroyed him. There was a second stick but he was focused on another enemy. The giant sputnick zoomed towards one of the small sputnicks on the ground and destroyed him instantly. A puck on the ground shot out a missile at the evil sputnick but it shot the puck and zoomed away before the missile could hit it. The giant sputnick spotted the other stick and raced toward it. Blam! The stick knocked the sputnick right out of the sky. Now I had to defeat all of the other enemies. A small sputnick raced towards me. I flew at it and dodged while shooting blips. The sputnick blew up. I raced towards the stick as blips rained about me. The stick shot at me like crazy. I dodged while shooting missiles all the time. The stick blew up.

Schools should not use the year round schooling system.
Schools in Michigan should not have year-round calenders because it gives kids no time to relax. If kids have no time to relax they will get overwhelmed and won't be able to take the pressure of school anymore. If kids can't relax they won't get any time to hang out with their family or friends and they will start to feel lonely. "It's a good idea, whether you live in the city or on a farm," said Ashley, who will be in 11th grade. "Without the summer off, we might go insane."(Opposing Viewpoints) If there is year round school, there can't be summer break which will give students even LESS time to relax. Some psychologists believe that too much study is detrimental to a child's mental health and children need time away from the regimentation of school.(Opposing Viewpoints) Scholars such as the education reformer Horace Mann argued on behalf of a long summer vacation. Mann wanted teachers to have time off to better prepare themselves in their chosen profession. The freedom from study and lack of schedules associated with summer vacation is good for students and their families and is good social policy too.(Opposing Viewpoints) Year round schools don't give kids time to relax so they are bad.

My Holiday
On a bright Saturday my family and I were just finishing up breakfast and it was almost time to go sledding. We cleared our plates and my mom, dad, brother, and I started pulling on our coats and snow pants. Once we were all dressed up we headed outside to get our sleds from the shed. The cold air smelled like fresh pine trees. We grabbed the three sleds and headed down the driveway. At the bottom there was a big hill of un-plowed snow on a road. I hopped on my sled first and started zooming down the road. Zane came next and ran right into me. We kept zooming until we came to the bottom of the road and shot right off of it. Next to the road was a big pit with large snow banks on each side. We tried to climb up the banks with little success but eventually we made it to the top. We placed our sleds down and got prepared to launch ourselves down the steep slope. We pushed off and went zooming down the hill faster than I expected. We both fell off almost as soon as it started. We did that for a few minutes then we climbed up again but this time for a different reason. Beyond the hill was Lake Michigan. We set up our sleds and prepared to push off the other side of the hill. I went first. I zoomed down the hill even faster than the last hill I went down. The sled went so fast that I fell off pretty quickly. Next came Zane. He zoomed down fast too and e fell off as well. We climbed back up and zoomed down again. This time I stayed on a little longer. We got off of our sleds and handed them to my dad. Then we walked down to the edge of the lake. There were big chunks of ice extending almost three feet back and if you stepped on them you would fall in. We walked up the beach for some time. Zane fell in every few minutes. There were big 5 ft x 5 ft ice balls floating or on the bottom of the lake that we occasionally we jumped on. Eventually we came to The Bass Lake Outlet. The Bass Lake Outlet is a little winding river on the beach that has water coming over a mini waterfall from Bass Lake. We got nearer to the river and saw there was a tall ledge of frozen sand. The ledge was much harder than ice. Even with all of us jumping on the ledge it would not break. We started smashing them with our boots until a small piece came off. My dad lifted the piece above his head and smashed it against the ledge. It smashed a large piece out of it. The sand/ice mixture was very heavy. We kept smashing for a while until we got to cold. The we walked farther and there was a huge ledge of ice sticking out into the water. We didn't go on that until it was thick enough for it to hold us up. We walked to the entrance/exit of the outlet (which was right near the mini waterfall). We walked up the sand path and out onto the road. We walked back up the road until we came to the gate that separated our grandparents property from the road. We stepped around the gate because it was to cold to open or close and walked up the winding road to our grandparents house. At a point where the road started seeming like a hill, we put our sleds down and raced back to the gate again. I won. We raced a few more time then officially headed back up to our grandparents house. The End

Schools in Michigan should not have year round schools

Skylanders
One late Summer night I was playing Skylanders with my brother Zane. We were just approaching the hardest level, The Lair of Kaos. Bang we beat the Arkeyan armory and collected the magic element orb. We teleported back to the ancient ruins. Hugo the mabu was blabbing on about nonsense as usual and Flint was talking about how great he was. Then we headed towards the core of light so we could teleport to Kaos's lair. Hugo came up to us and said
"I'll just type in some coordinates and, bang. You can now teleport to Kaos's lair."
Huge bubbles surrounded us and we started to float up. Bang. A huge flash of light turned everything white and when it cleared we were in Kaos's lair. Bones started raining from the sky and exploded into little purple shiny gems. After it stopped two lava kings jumped off of a platform high up in the air. They landed and started spewing their little red fiery minions. They charged at us and we attacked. BANG BANG BOOM! The ground shook as fireballs exploded and lasers charred the ground at our feet. BLAM! The fire king exploded and all of his minions died. We moved on through the gate. It closed behind us. There was some chicken drumsticks to heal us.
"Which one of us has lower health?" I asked.
Zane did so he took the chicken. We moved on and stopped right before a large circular room with a huge blade rotating on an axis in the middle. We waited until the right time than ran out as the blade followed close behind. We made it into the corridor at the other side and were greeted by laser shooting Tech Spell Punks. Little circles zeroed in around us as the Tech Spell Punks aimed their lasers. We ran. Blam Blam Blam. The lasers missed us by an inch. We charged at the Tech Spell Punks and smashed them against a wall. They exploded and little blue tornadoes formed and sucked up their remnants then disappeared. We walked in the the room and a gate closed behind us. Drow Witches, Lava Kings, more Tech Spell Punks, and more enemies came floating in on flying platforms. The platforms stopped and the enemies jumped off. Bam Bam Bam. Everything was mayhem. Fire balls exploded and swords flew through the air. The fight went on for what seemed like hours but then when the last enemy had fallen the exit gate in front of us opened. We walked through the opening and the screen froze. "I can't move!" I said. Then Eon the dead portal master's ghost appeared. All of your Skylander's have been returned to full health. He disappeared and the platform started to move. We moved away from the battleground, away from the gate, away from the land enemies. The platform was headed towards a floating castle. As we got closer the castle started to turn. It turned and turned until it was finally upside down. The platform moved closer and I saw an arena on the bottom. The platform landed and we hopped off. A little hovercraft floated up from one of the sides of the castle and in it was a tiny man with tattoos all over his face named Kaos.
"Bwahahahahahahaha!" he shouted. "You have fallen right into my trap!"
"I will use my minions to destroy you!" he said.
Three minions teleported into the arena and made their signature screeches. The charged and we barely dodged their attacks. We split up and took each one by ourselves. Once they were all dead Kaos's hovercraft came closer.
"Perhaps you do have something special in you." he shouted "Then I'm just gonna have my brawlers bash it out of you!"
Three more minions appeared behind the first trio. The first group exploded giving all of the next
group a higher level and they were much bigger.
We ran, dodged, and fought our elusive opponents. Bang! Another minion fell.
"One more." I said.
Slam! The last minion fell.
"Minions," said Kaos "what is wrong with you!?!?" "Well, it doesn't matter anyways because I have three more terrifying minions to take there place!" he shouted.
The old minions appeared and newer ones appeared behind them. The older minions blew up giving the newer ones XP and making them level up to be even bigger than the last three.
Once again the minions attacked and we defended ourselves as best we could.
Countless seconds later all of the minions were defeated.
"FOOLS!" Kaos shouted.
By this time he was really getting angry with his minions.
"I shall use my Hydra!" he said.
A huge dragon-like beast with four heads that had been floating behind Kaos for the whole time moved closer. Each of its heads were a different color and a different element. The green head was Life, the red head was Fire, the blue head was Water, and the skull was Undead. The fire head came to the front and growled. Kaos's hovercraft shot down on the arena and mini volcanoes shot from the base of it in four different spots. We dodged the volcanoes easily and attacked his hovercraft. He had 9999 health and we thought it would take forever to beat him. This battle reminded me of the other boss battle I had with Bowser in Super Mario Galaxy 2. Blam Blam Blam! Kaos was now down to half of his health. We fought and fought until he was at almost zero health. His hovercraft flew up again and he started to talk. All of the minions that we defeated we surprisingly not dead. All of them appeared below Kaos. They all blew up sending all of their XP up to Kaos. He now had back to 9999 health. "This will take FOREVER!" I moaned. Once again the Hydra attacked us. The skull came to the front of all the heads and roared. Purple beams started to form around us and we had to dodge them or we would lose a lot of health. We ducked and dodged and every once in a while Kaos's hovercraft would shoot down and smack the ground right where we were standing moments earlier. Volcanoes from the fire head, tracking worms from the life head, doom sharks from the water head, and purple laser beams from the undead head all attacked us repeatedly.
We were starting to think that we wouldn't finish the level today and would have to finish it tomorrow.
Minutes seemed like hours but eventually Kaos was down to very low health. We had already used up half of our Skylanders energy. "He's almost down!" I said happily. BOOM. His craft fell to the arena floor as his health mete lowered to 0. "We did it!" I shouted. Now we were back in the Ancient Ruins with Kaos floating in a bubble. "Let me out!" he shouted angrily. Hugo started talking about banishing him from Skylands and other punishments for his crimes. Kaos in his bubble prison flew off into space.

Schools in Michigan should not have year-round calenders █ Updated
Schools in Michigan should not have year-round calenders because it gives kids no time to relax. Why schools should not have year round schooling
Year round schooling does not improve students' academic achievement. Year round schools and traditional school are technically the same because they both have 180 days. Experts that have researched the topic found out that year round schools have the same achievements and grades as traditional schools. Year round schools give you no time to relax or play sports with your friends over summer. Year round schools are more expensive to maintain because they have to keep their cooling systems on all summer instead of just shutting them down like traditional schools.
